Three photographs from a food industry exhibition: a stage session, the floor and a speaker

The market

What this sector is actually up against.

Exhibitions, summits and launches run to a schedule nobody can pause. A stand goes up, a stage runs to the minute, and the people worth filming are in the room once. Coverage either exists by the time the doors close or it does not exist at all - and the organisers, the speakers and the sponsors all want something to publish while the event is still being talked about.

  • Coverage delivered weeks later, by which time the event has stopped being news.

  • A photographer and a video crew booked separately, shooting the same moment twice and missing two others.

  • No run sheet for the camera, so the sponsors and the side stages get whatever time is left.

  • Footage that exists but never gets cut into anything the organiser can actually post.

Measurement

What we would report on.

What gets measured, not results claimed. No figure appears on this site without its metric, period, source and scope.

  • Reported

Turnaround from shoot to first publishable cut

  • Reported

Stage sessions and speakers covered against the run sheet

  • Reported

Assets delivered per day of coverage

  • Reported

Reach on the organiser's and the sponsors' channels

Questions

Before you ask.

Can we get anything on the same day?

Same-day turnaround is scoped before the event rather than promised on the day - it changes the crew, the card handling and who edits where. Say at the briefing that you need something to post before the doors close and it is planned for.

Do you cover more than one stage at once?

Only with the crew to do it. One camera cannot be in two rooms, so the run sheet decides what is covered and what is not, and that gets agreed rather than discovered halfway through the day.

Who can use the footage afterwards?

Written into the scope before the event. Sponsors and speakers usually want their own cut, and whether that is included is a question to settle beforehand, not while they are asking for it.
